How to activate and use the gift card

Can I split the amount across several stores?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You’re not locked to one store, and can divide the amount between as many as you want as long as the money covers it. But each time you choose a store, that part of the amount is locked to that store, and the choice can’t be changed. Take your time deciding before you activate.

Question 3

Have I already used my gift?

Accepted Answer

You can see that on the gift link. If you’ve activated anything from the gift, the gift cards are listed there with amounts, dates and a button to each — even when the whole amount is used up. If you’ve only used part of the amount, you can choose a store for the rest on the same page. If you can’t find the link again, we’ll send it to you again.

Where can the gift card be used?

The recipient can freely choose from a wide selection of different gift cards from well-known stores, both online and in physical shops.

Question 5

How long is the gift card valid?

Accepted Answer

The recipient has 1 year to activate the gift card. After activation, validity varies depending on which gift card they choose. Some are valid for 3 years, others for 1 year.

Can the gift card be used abroad?

Accepted Answer

The gift cards are tied to the country they apply to. The selection you see are gift cards redeemable in Norway, so a Norwegian gift card usually can’t be used in the same store chain abroad. Several of the stores are online shops, and there you can shop from abroad as long as the store ships there — the store’s own rules apply. If you or the recipient live outside Norway, contact us before buying so we can check what’s possible.

What’s it like to receive a gift card for the recipient?

That’s kind of the point of our name. The recipient doesn’t get a code in an empty email — they get a greeting from you first, with your own words, a picture and music if you want, which is unwrapped before the gift appears. First the hygge, then the gift. Afterwards they choose what to spend the amount on themselves, so they end up with something they really want.

I get “Gift not found” or “the gift card is not valid”

Accepted Answer

This almost never means the gift is gone. The three most common reasons are: the store you’re trying to use is temporarily unavailable with our provider, there’s a temporary technical error on our side, or the link is incomplete. First try opening the link again, preferably in a new tab. If that doesn’t help, try choosing another store. If the link is cut off or incomplete, we can resend it to the address or number the gift was sent to. If you still get an error, contact us — please include the gift link and which store you tried, and we’ll find the gift right away.

Question 9

What does error code RE015 mean?

RE015 means the store you chose is temporarily unavailable with our provider. There’s nothing wrong with your gift. Choose another store if you can, or try again later. Let us know if that store is the only one you’re interested in, and we’ll follow up.

Question 10

I can’t find my gift link again

Accepted Answer

If you’ve deleted the SMS or email, or changed phone, we can resend the link to the same email address or phone number the gift was sent to. You can do this immediately, without waiting for a reply from us. We only send to the address or number already on the gift — so a gift link can’t be redirected to someone else.

Question 11

I have a leftover amount I can’t use

Accepted Answer

Stores decide themselves which amounts they offer. Some have a minimum amount, and some only have fixed amounts to choose from — so a small leftover amount might not fit any of the options. Try another store, as the limits vary. If you’re stuck with an amount you can’t use, contact us and we’ll find a solution.

The store I want to use isn’t shown

Accepted Answer

The selection changes over time, and stores may be temporarily unavailable. If a store you expected to see isn't there, it is either not in our selection, or it is temporarily down at the supplier. Contact us and tell us which store you are looking for, and we will check the status.

Question 13

I chose the wrong store — can I change it?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, an activation cannot be reversed. Once the amount has been redeemed at a store, the gift card is issued from there and the money is locked to that store. This also applies if you accidentally chose the wrong one. Contact us anyway — if the gift card hasn't been used, and the store isn't functioning properly, we can sometimes refund the amount to the sender. We can't promise it, but we review each case.

Question 14

My gift has expired

Accepted Answer

The gift must be activated within one year. After this, it expires, and the deadline can normally not be extended. If you experience a technical error when trying to activate the gift, contact us immediately and we will investigate the matter. Don’t wait if the gift is about to expire — activate it in good time.

Question 15

Why do I have to confirm my email address or phone number?

Accepted Answer

Because the link alone should not be enough. A gift link or a link to your order can easily end up in a forwarded email, a screenshot, or browser history, and then the person who finds it should not be able to see your order or redeem the gift. For the first 24 hours, you get direct access. If the link is older than that, we ask for one piece of information you already have: for an order, it’s the email address or phone number you used when you bought it, and for a gift, it’s the address or number the gift was sent to. Then you are logged in for two hours. If you don’t remember which address it was, or it doesn’t match, contact us — we’ll find the case with your name.

Is this a scam? The link looks suspicious

Accepted Answer

It’s good that you’re alert. Here’s how to check that the gift is genuine: a real gift link from us always starts with sendhygge.no/gift/ — if there’s anything else before that, it’s not from us. We never ask for passwords, BankID, card numbers, or one-time codes, neither by email, SMS, nor phone, and you don’t need an account to open the gift. If in doubt, don’t click the link: ask the sender to confirm it’s correct, or contact us and we’ll check it for you.

The recipient hasn’t received the gift

Accepted Answer

First, check if the gift is in the recipient’s junk or spam folder, as that’s the most common cause. You can also retrieve the gift link yourself and send it directly to the recipient via any channel you want: open the order confirmation email, click «View order» at the bottom, and copy the gift link from there. On the same page, you can click «Resend gift», and we will send it to the address or number on the gift. The link appears as soon as the gift is sent — if you’ve scheduled sending for later, it will appear then.

How do I change the recipient’s name or contact information?

Find the email with the order confirmation and click «View order» at the bottom. There you can edit both the name and the email address or phone number by clicking the pencil icon next to the field. You can do this as long as the recipient hasn’t activated the gift card. When you change the contact information, we ask you to confirm the email or phone number you used when you bought the gift — this is to prevent others from redirecting your gift. If the gift has already been sent, we don’t automatically send anything to the new address: use «Resend gift» afterwards.

What is the difference between Glede and hygge?

Glede is for businesses, hygge is for private individuals. Glede is a prepaid Mastercard that can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted. hygge is a multi-choice gift card: you create a more personalized greeting, and the recipient chooses from a range of stores. This also means that hygge can only be used at the stores in our selection. A hygge gift card cannot be converted into a Glede card afterwards, and we cannot sell Glede to private individuals — we don’t yet have financial regulatory approval for that.

Who can give gift cards with hygge?

Everyone can! Both private individuals and businesses are welcome.

Can I send to multiple recipients at once, with one receipt?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, this is not possible with hygge today — you send one gift per order, and get one receipt per order. If you want to give to many at once and need everything on one receipt, Glede for businesses is a better option. Contact us if you’re unsure what suits you, and we’ll help.

Question 22

Can I change the sending time for a gift?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can do this yourself as long as the gift hasn’t been sent yet. Open the order confirmation email, click «View order» at the bottom, and click the pencil icon next to «Send». You can choose a time from 15 minutes up to 90 days ahead. If the gift has already been sent, the time cannot be changed — instead, you can retrieve the gift link and send it whenever you want. If you’ve planned a group greeting, remember that the group can add greetings right up until the gift is sent, so a new time also moves that deadline.

Question 23

Can I add more greetings after the gift has been sent?

Accepted Answer

No. Once the gift is sent, the greeting is locked, and we cannot add or change the content afterwards. If you’ve created a group greeting, everyone with the group link can contribute right up until the sending time. If the gift is scheduled, you can move the sending time from the order page to give the group more time. After the gift is sent, any extra greeting must be sent separately to the recipient.

Can I send gift cards to someone under 18?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is no age limit to receive or use a hygge gift card. The age limit applies to the purchase: you must be 18 years old to buy, and if you are under 18, consent from guardians is required. Note that some stores may have their own age limits on their products.

Question 25

What does it cost to use hygge?

Accepted Answer

We charge a service fee of 3% of the amount for each gift card you give, with a minimum fee of 25 kroner per gift card. All prices exclude VAT.

Question 26

My card is declined when I try to pay

Accepted Answer

Try another card first — some banks block online payments to new payees. Some payments are also stopped by our security checks. A payment that didn’t go through is not charged by us. If you still see a reserved amount in your online bank after a failed attempt, it’s your bank holding it, and they release it themselves — how long this takes varies by bank. If you see an actual charge without receiving an order confirmation, contact us with the time and amount, and we’ll find it.

Question 27

I haven’t received an order confirmation or receipt

Accepted Answer

The order confirmation is sent with the receipt attached to the email address you provided during payment, and it may end up in junk mail. If you have the confirmation, you can download the receipt yourself: click «View order» at the bottom of the email, then «Download receipt». If you can’t find the email at all, we can resend it to the same address. We need the order ID for that, as we find the order by it and not by the email address alone. If you don’t have the order ID either, contact us — we’ll find the order for you.

Where do I find the receipt for accounting or employer?

The receipt is a PDF in the order confirmation you received by email, and you can retrieve it whenever you want: click «View order» at the bottom of the email, then «Download receipt». The receipt shows order ID, date, gift amount, service fee, VAT, and total paid, with Glede Norway AS and organisation number as the seller. You also get it after a refund. If the link is more than a day old, we first ask you to confirm the email address or phone number you used at purchase.

I want to cancel the purchase and get my money back

Accepted Answer

As a consumer, you have 14 days’ right of withdrawal from when you receive the order confirmation. The right of withdrawal assumes the gift has not been activated or redeemed at a store — if it has, the gift card is already issued, and the right of withdrawal normally cannot be used. Contact us within the deadline. If a refund is approved, you will get your money back to the same payment method, usually within 3–5 working days.

Question 30

Where do I find the order ID or gift code?

If you are the sender: the order ID is in the order confirmation email under «Order details». It is 20 characters with letters and numbers. If you are the recipient: you have a gift code, not an order ID. The code is the last characters in your gift link — in sendhygge.no/gift/ABC12345, ABC12345 is the code. You can paste the entire link in the contact form, we’ll figure out the rest. If you have neither, submit the form anyway: your email or phone number is enough for us to find the case.
